About me

Dr Yung graduated at Cardiff University in 1988. He completed his General Internal Medicine and Respiratory Medicine Specialist training in London (North West Thames rotation). He was previously Tutor in Respiratory Medicine and Clinical Research Fellow at the Royal Brompton Hospital, London. His MD thesis was on the diagnosis and pathogenesis of Cystic Fibrosis Related Diabetes. He was appointed Consultant Respiratory Physician at Basildon University Hospital in 1999 and has worked at the Nuffield Health, Brentwood Hospital since 2001.

Dr Yung had won the Basildon Hospital Chief Executive Gold Award in Quality Improvement in 2003 (Non-invasive Ventilation) and in 2007 (Cancer Medicine Ward).

Dr Yung’s specialist interests in Respiratory Medicine include Asthma, Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD), Pulmonary Fibrosis, Cough and its management, Lung Cancer and Investigation of Unexplained Shortness of Breath.

Dr Yung has performed over 1,900 flexible bronchoscopies and 600 Endobronchial Ultrasound Transbronchial Needle Aspiration (EBUS-TBNA).

Dr Yung has published widely in respiratory specialist peer-reviewed journals.
