About me

Dr Evans a full time consultant
Gastroenterologist at the Lister and New QEII Hospitals.

He obtained his BSc in Neurosciences at Sussex University in 1998 and qualified from Leicester/Warwick Medical School in 2006 with a prize for Clinical medicine. He then undertook speciality training in North West London between 2012 and 2018 working at centres of excellence including St Marks, St Mary’s and Royal London Hospitals. In 2015 he received the Derek Butler Award gaining his PhD in 2018 from Queen Mary University of London for research into the biology of Barrett’s oesophagus and its role in cancer development. He has produced publications in peer-reviewed scientific journals and presented this work at international meetings: BSG, DDW and UEGW.

Dr Evans is responsible for inpatients with a wide variety of gastroenterological disorders as well as running regular gastroenterology outpatient clinics with a particular interest in oesophageal and gastric cancer, Barrett’s oesophagus and upper GI physiology testing. He performs upper GI therapeutic endoscopy, colonoscopy and is developing the trusts physiology testing service.

Dr Evans is the Upper GI Cancer lead for the trust, a member of the Regional Upper GI cancer Alliance and is the lead for the Regional Laser service. He is also involved closely in medical education and training as the Endoscopy training lead for the Trust and teaches on regional JAG accredited training courses for Upper GI endoscopy.
