About me

I am a Chartered Clinical Psychologist who is registered with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) and eligible for British Psychological Society (BPS) membership. I have over 10 years experience of working within the mental health field as an academic (Institute Psychiatry, psychology and neuroscience, Kings College London) and then holding the position as Lead Principal Clinical Psychologist (South London and Maudsley NHS Foundation Trust).

I work integratively, meaning that I am experienced using a range of evidence based, effective psychological models/approaches that are helpful for the individual, couple or family such as: cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT), compassion focused therapy (CFT), mindfulness, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), dialectical behavioural therapy (DBT), systemic/family therapy and psychodynamic.

I am also experienced in offering assessments for Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD). I complete diagnostic assessments that are thorough and based on knowledge of relevant guidance and research, and years of experience. I use gold standard diagnostic tools (Autism Diagnostic Interview - Revised (ADI-R) and Autism Diagnostic Observation Scale (ADOS) as well as gathering a through developmental history. I follow
best practice guidance from the National Institute of Clinical Excellence (NICE, 2021).

Areas of interest

I have experience assessing Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), mental health and offering interventions to people with varying mental health needs. This includes depression, anxiety, stress, having difficulties in relationships and at work, adjusting to different health diagnoses, neurodevelopmental conditions such as Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD), perfectionism, parenting problems, trauma and distress during the pregnancy and perinatal period.

I have an interest in considering John Burnham's 'social graces' that represent aspects of difference in beliefs, power and lifestyle that are voiced and unvoiced, visible and invisible (e.g. gender, race, age, class, ethnicity, sexuality etc), to provide culturally competent therapy.
