About me

I am a consultant physician who specialises in the digestive system. I received world-class training in gastroenterology, endoscopy and digestive ultrasound. I was part of the prestigious Marie Curie Training Network in neurogastroenterology (NEUROGUT). This was a 3.7-million-euro project funded by the European Commission to create the next generation of leaders in the field. I did my PhD under Professor Qasim Aziz in digestive pain. My PhD thesis was titled ‘’Central Modulation of Visceral Pain Hypersensitivity’, which was awarded by the University of London.

I had extensive training in neurogastoenterology which makes me an expert in treating painful digestive conditions such as IBS, abdominal pain, bloating, heartburn, constipation, diarrhoea, and difficulty in swallowing.

I perform a high-volume endoscopy of the oesophagus, stomach and colon every year. This helped me establish my technique to deliver high-quality and thorough examinations while keeping the discomfort minimal. I use innovative techniques such as transnasal endoscopy and underwater colonoscopy to minimise discomfort.

My other passion is digestive ultrasound. During my training in Europe, I was trained to perform an advanced ultrasound of the abdomen. I am a firm believer that ultrasound is a part of the clinical examination in a specialised gastroenterology clinic. I find it helpful to see live images of your liver, gallbladder, pancreas, spleen and other organs. I find office ultrasound saves time and enriches my patients' experience. I was also awarded a postgraduate certificate (with merits) in general medical ultrasound from King’s College London.

I currently hold a substantive consultant position at Barts Health, Royal London and Whipps Cross hospitals which I joined as a consultant back in 2018.

I continue to be actively involved in teaching and research. I currently hold an Honorary Senior Clinical Lectureship at Queen Mary University of London ( The Wingate Insitute for Neurogastroenterology, Barts and The London School of Medicine).
