About me

I am a Principal Clinical Psychologist with over 17 years of experience working within the Mental Health field. My main area of expertise lies within Adult Mental Health Services while I have particular experience gained within Forensic Mental Health, Forensic Learning Disabilities and the HM Prison Service. In my current NHS post I provide psychological assessments, risk assessments, supervision, consultation and treatment. My current role involves working with individuals with complex presentations, for example, personality disorders, complex psychopathologies such as schizophrenia, emotional difficulties, relationship/attachment difficulties, traumatic histories, PTSD, abuse (sexual, physical, emotional), autism and learning disabilities.

I also work with presentations such as depression, anxiety, OCD, bipolar disorder, ADHD, relationship difficulties and gambling.

I have a particular interest in drug and alcohol issues and those people with a dual diagnosis. Specifically, I am interested how dual diagnosis relates to trauma, PTSD and violence.

I use a number of evidence based psychological approaches within my work and feel a thorough formulation of a person’s difficulties will inform the treatment plan and particular approach to use. I often draw on a number of psychological approaches to suit the client and work collaboratively to improve their well-being. I am also part of the DBT team within my NHS role where we offer DBT to both male and females individuals with complex presentations. Additionally, my preferred way of working, where appropriate, is using the CAT (Cognitive Analytic Therapy) model. I use a CAT informed approach to my work with individuals and also offer CAT informed consultancy and reflective practice groups to staff. I am a DBT therapist, an Accredited CAT practitioner and an EMDR therapist.
