About me

Mr. Salim has 15 years of experience in Gynaecology possessing a wide range of experience in the speciality. His key areas of interests are minimal access (key-hole) surgery and ambulatory gynaecology (outpatient procedures). He was trained in the South West region of the U.K., which includes working in specialist centres such as University Hospitals of Southampton. During his senior years of training he also gained advanced skills in the management of endometriosis, whilst working for Dorset Endometriosis Centre U.K. In his NHS practice he deals with a variety of gynaecological conditions. Patients are counselled thoroughly and all management options are offered in line with National Institute of Clinical Excellence (NICE) so that they can make informed decisions. Mr. Salim also leads the ambulatory gynaecology service in his NHS practice. He seeks innovative ways of delivering care and streamlining pathways to maximise patient benefit. More recently, he has introduced outpatient endometrial ablation service for the treatment of heavy periods by using 2nd generation device such as Novasure. Within his areas of interest he sees and manages patients with pelvic pain/endometriosis and menstrual irregularities, which includes heavy periods, irregular spotting in between the cycles (also known as intermenstrual bleeding) and breakthrough bleeding on hormonal contraception. A choice of both medical and surgical treatment is provided during consultation. Mr Salim has also post graduate diploma in public health (Sydney, Australia). Having formal qualifications in subjects including epidemiology and changing health behaviours, his approach to patient counselling and health management is an inclusive journey from past to present and future well-being. Mr Salim is an active member of British Society of Gynaecology Endoscopy and also regularly attends national and international gynaecology network update symposiums. He also engages in regional and national teaching events for both trainees and peers.
