About me

I qualified as a doctor in 1985 from Kings College Hospital in London and am now one of the most senior consultants in the speciality in the East of England.

After starting training as a GP I changed my career plans to become a Obstetrician and Gynaecologist. During my training I developed an interest in treating women with female incontinence and prolapse (urogynaecology). I was appointed a full time NHS consultant in Ipswich in 2001 and am the lead for treating female incontinence and prolapse in the area. In addition to my interest in urogynaecology I have also maintain a large practising profile in all aspects of Gynaecology.

I have been a member of both the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists and the British Society of Urogynaecology Guidelines committee.

I am an educationist and aside teaching the trainees and future consultants of our specialty I an examiner for the MRCOG exams and an external college assessor. In 2019 I became the Chair of the Part 2 EMQ Examination Committee and completed my term of office in 2023. Following this I was invited to undertaken a new role in the RCOG to develop a mechanism to give feedback to both candidates and examiners about their performance in the MRCOG Part 3 examination.

In 2019 I was elected by my peers to be the East of England Fellows representative on the RCOG Council. In 2022 I was rel-elected for a further 3 year term.

In addition to my clinical work I have always been interested in clinical governance and risk management and am a well known and respected medico legal expert.

I undertake annual appraisals covering all aspects of my practices in keeping with the GMC Guidelines on Good Medical Practice and was re validated in 2023 for a further 5 year period.
