About me

About Me:

My name is Wendy Nicoll, I am an Integrative counsellor and I run my own successful Counselling and Training business from my home in Fife, Scotland. I live with my husband and two dogs, Bella and Rosie. My hobbies are walking, reading, gardening and entertaining my many grandchildren!

Intro:

We all have times in our lives when we feel stuck or lost. Starting therapy may seem difficult, but I will create a safe and trusted space for you, my client.
In our first meeting, we will spend some time getting to know each other and understand what brought you to therapy.
I will be curious to hear about your life and your experiences, there won’t be any rush, I will follow your pace.

My Approach:

A good therapeutic relationship is very important. I will aim to offer you a non-judgmental and supportive place where you can be yourself and share & explore sensitive topics safely.
I use an integrative model in therapy, which means adapting my approach to fit my client’s needs and difficulties.
I also use a range of models, including Person-Centred, Psychodynamic and Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT). When appropriate, I also use other approaches, such as Gestalt and Transactional Analysis (TA).

My Background and Experience:

Returning home in 1998 from working for several years in the United Arab Emirates, I decided to change career and retrain, which turned out to be the most rewarding and exciting experience.
I embarked on a COSCA Counselling Skills course. The skills course is now one of the training programmes I teach today. I am also a training supervisor for others who teach the course.
When the skills course ended I continued to study in the counselling field and went on to achieve a Diploma in Counselling attaining counselling accreditation with BACP [British Association for counselling and Psychotherapy]
For over a decade, I supplied training for the NHS’s suicide prevention programme, ASIST (Applied Suicide Intervention Skills Training) and delivered SMHFA (Scottish Mental Health First Aid) throughout Scotland.
Training was my next goal, where I gained a Diploma in Training and Development and again achieved accreditation with COSCA [Confederation of Scottish Counselling Agencies].

How I work with new clients:

When you are assigned to me or you have located me on the BUPA directory, we will have a brief telephone call and agree on the first session date which will take place online via the Zoom platform. The Zoom link will be sent directly to your email.

Thank you for taking the time to read through my profile.
