About me
Professor Mark McGurk, Head and Neck Service, University College Hospital London.

My undergraduate studies (dentistry and medicine) were undertaken at Sheffield University and my postgraduate education at Manchester University. I was appointed to Guy’s Hospital Dental Institute in 1992. I moved to University College Hospital in September 2016. I am on the board of Project Harar providing surgical missions in developing countries. I teach on the treatment and management of salivary gland disorders in Germany and France and lecture widely on the treatment and management of head and neck cancer and salivary gland diseases. My area of clinical interest is management of head and neck cancer and I have a particular interest in the management of salivary gland disease (stones; strictures; ranula; tumours). I have pioneered minimally invasive surgery in the management of head and neck cancer and have led a recent European trial on sentinel node biopsy as well as developments in minimally invasive management of salivary lesions; stones; strictures. I also provide treatment for tumours of the jaw; jaw cysts; neck lumps; ameloblastomas; tongue cancer; tongue tie division for children and adults; tongue lesions; lip lumps; mucoceles; cysts; facial trauma and fractures; jaw fractures; routine and complex dental extractions - wisdom teeth; impacted teeth; buried roots; bone grafting; sinus lifts; oral and maxillofacial trauma.
