About me

I have qualified in medicine in 2003 from the prestigious Carol Davila Medicine and Pharmacy School in Bucharest Romania. Same year, I have been admitted to the National Trauma and Orthopaedic run through training with top marks. I have completed my basic training through various aspects of T&O and I have developed a specialist interest in lower limb arthroplasty and soft tissue knee reconstruction. I have been awarded equivalent of UK CCT in 2010 and appointed consultant Trauma surgeon in the same year at the largest Level 1 Trauma Centre in Bucharest, Romania.
I have moved to the North East of England in 2012 where I have undertaken 2 fellowships with Mr Nick London in Harrogate and the BOA Clinical Leaders Fellowship in Sunderland Royal Hospital with MR Shaun O'Brien and Mr Ananda Nanu.During my fellowships I have received extensive training in various conditions of the lower limb, focusing on osteoarthritis of the hip and knee, trauma, sports injuries and deformity correction. Further more I have successfully acquired my UK FRCS in 2016.y. I was then appointed as a consultant Lower limb surgeon at Forth Valley Royal Hospital in Scotland for a year followed by appointment at North Cumbria University Hospitals in 2017 where I specialise in all aspect of knee surgery and general trauma including hip replacements for Neck of femur fractures.
I focus on patients whose knee conditions are either degenerative such as arthritis offering knee replacement surgery including partial knee replacement or deformity correction for preservation of the native joint using either high tibial osteotomies or distal femoral osteotomies or both at the same time.
I also treat patients with sports injuries such as locked knees, ruptured ligaments offering meniscal repairs, and ligament reconstructions as required. I have presented at national and international conferences and have published some of my work over the years. I am principal investigator on several research projects on various topics of cartilage regeneration.
I enjoy teaching and is a faculty for various courses for medical students and local orthopaedic trainees
Outside of work I enjoy spending time with my family and friends, travelling, and exploring new places and cultures.
