About me
I have been a Consultant Plastic Surgeon based at Addenbrookes Hospital NHS Foundation Trust since 1996. Initially my main focus was on skin cancer and breast reconstruction and I set up Research projects on the early detection of skin cancer which has resulted in a number of publications, presentations and Research doctorates. I remain involved in early detection of skin cancer by being the Clinical Director for skin for Health ScreenUK which offers skin screening for those who are concerned about skin lesions.
In 2002 I became the Clinical Director for the Cleft Lip and Palate Service based at Addenbrooke's for the patients born in East Anglia and my NHS practice is now largely paediatric and Cleft Lip and Palate. I also am on the Medical Advisory board for Operation Smile UK and am working with Surgeons in Ethiopia to develop a Plastic Surgery and Cleft service in a remote part of this developing country.
My private practice involves close collaboration with colleagues in dermatology whom I support in removing skin cancers from awkward sites requiring sometimes complex reconstructions. I also see children with reconstructive requirements from birth abnormalities, prominent ears and moles.
In addition to my regular practice as performed in the NHS I have a broad remit of cosmetic or aesthetic procedures that I perform (Facelift, Rhinoplasty, Prominent Ears, Blepharoplasty, Breast Reduction, Breast Augmentation, Abdominoplasty, Labiaplasty, Liposuction). I am a member of the BAAPS (The British Association of Aesthetic Plastic Surgeons) and submit an annual audit report to them and also a member of BAPRAS (the British Association of Plastic reconstructive and Aesthetic Surgeons).
