About me

Summary

I have been a fully accredited Counsellor since 2007. I am committed to delivering an excellent, caring and confidential service. I am well qualified, very experienced and able to bring a broad base of knowledge and skills to my clients in a friendly, approachable and professional manner.

Qualifications

PG Diploma Humanistic Person-Centred Counselling & Psychotherapy - (2005)
BSc (Hons) Psychology (2:1) - (2007)
BACP Accreditation - (2007)
Diploma Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (Distinction) - (2009)
EMDR Practitioner Certificate - (2009)
Couples Therapy for Depression Accreditation (2018)

Skills

Having obtained a Post Graduate Diploma in Humanistic Person-Centred Counselling in 2005 I use this is as a base for all my counselling. My work has brought me into contact with a diverse range of human experiences and I have pursued relevant training in response to these including alcohol addiction, anger management, domestic abuse, sexual abuse, rape, bereavement, depression, anxiety, low self-esteem, work related stress and post traumatic stress disorder.

Experience

I had quite a varied working life before I decided to embark on my training as a Counsellor. My previous roles have included working as a Bi-lingual Secretary, Personal Assistant, Costs and Budgets Manager, Computer Analyst \Programmer and IT Manager. It was whilst working as an IT Manager that I decided that I wished to change direction and focus on people rather than computers! Since completing my training as a Counsellor in 2005, I have had the privilege of working with many people in various settings including GP Practices, in an NHS Employee Counselling Service, for an Alcohol Agency and for Women's Aid. I now work both privately and for an IAPT Service within the NHS.
