About me

Dr William Tillett is a consultant rheumatologist at the Royal National Hospital for Rheumatic Diseases (RNHRD) and senior lecturer in the department of Life Sciences at the University of Bath, UK. He graduated from the University of Bristol with a BSc in Anatomical Science before undertaking his medical degree at the same institution. He undertook his doctoral fellowship in psoriatic arthritis.

In his clinical practice he diagnosis and treats people living with a range of rheumatic conditions. He leads the biologic drug service at the RNHRD. His clinical subspeciality and research interest is arthritis related to psoriasis.

Dr Tillett has published more than 350 peer reviewed articles, book chapters or conference proceedings on the assessment and treatment of psoriatic arthritis. His research interests center on improving the lives of people living with arthritis through better assessment (clinical, radiographic and patient reported outcome), early detection of disease and treatment strategies. He is Chief Investigator for a portfolio of clinical and commercial research trials.

Dr Tillett was awarded a European Alliance of Associations for Rheumatology (EULAR) Clinical Scientist award in 2015. He co-authored the 2013 and 2023 British Society of Rheumatology (BSR) psoriatic arthritis Biologics guidelines and sits on the Group for Research and Assessment of Psoriasis and Psoriatic Arthritis (GRAPPA) steering committee . He is a trustee for the Bath Institute for Rheumatic Diseases (BIRD).
