About me

Professor Little is Consultant Diagnostic and Interventional Radiologist & Director of Radiology Research at Royal Berkshire NHS Foundation Trust. After qualifying with distinction from medical school, he trained in medicine and surgery in Cambridge, before being awarded the highly regarded National Institute for Health Research (NIHR) Academic Clinical Fellowship (ACF) in Clinical Radiology at Oxford. Professor Little is a specialist in all aspects of interventional radiology, having completed the interventional radiology fellowship at Oxford resulting in a certificate of completion of training (CCT) in both clinical and interventional radiology. Professor Little also sub specialises in Uroradiology, and cancer imaging, having received additional training in multiparametric MRI of the prostate.

Professor Little is actively involved in teaching and research, and has led numerous research studies, and holds several research grants. In 2013, Professor Little travelled to Lisbon to learn about Prostate Artery Embolisation (PAE) under the guidance of Professor Pisco, who is recognized as one of the pioneers of PAE. Subsequently Professor Little successfully gained grant funding from the Royal College of Radiologists to start the first UK research study investigating the effectiveness of PAE in the treatment of benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH). Professor Little is recognized as one of the most experienced interventional radiologists performing PAE in the UK, and performs a high volume of cases. He has presented his research on the topic internationally, regularly teaches and mentors other consultants on the technique, and is a current advisor on PAE and novel interventional procedures to the National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE), England.

Professor Little is currently leading the first European research study investigating the role of Genicular Artery Embolisation (GAE) in the treatment of knee osteoarthritis (OA) (The GENESIS study). His research group are also investigating the role of day-case Uterine Artery Embolisation (UAE) in women with uterine fibroids.

Professor Little has authored numerous peer-reviewed papers, and book chapters, presented his work internationally, and received several research awards, including the NIHR rising research star award, 2018. Professor Little is a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy (FHEA), visiting Professor, University of Reading, prior Lecturer in anatomy and embryology at Keble College, University of Oxford, and is on the editorial board for CVIR.

Professor Little prides himself on providing the best treatment package for individual patients, with particular emphasis on explaining the procedure, potential side effects, and what to expect afterwards. He uses state-of-the-art imaging technology to accurately plan and perform procedures, maximizing success and minimizing complications.
