About me

***Please note, I am currently unable to accept new referrals other than for autism assessments*** Dr Parker obtained a first class BSc Honours degree in Psychology at the University of Hull in 2001. Since then she has provided psychological reports, assessments and treatment within the NHS and the private sector.

She obtained a Doctorate in Clinical Psychology in 2004 and is registered as a Practitioner Psychologist with the Health & Care Professions Council (PYL19234), a Chartered Clinical Psychologist, a Graduate Member and Fellowship Member of the British Psychological Society and the Division of Clinical Psychology (Membership No. 040590). Adele is also a member of the EMDR Association, UK and Ireland (Membership No. J148).

From 2004 to 2010, Adele worked within a Child and Adolescent Mental Health Service, working with a wide range of generic mental health difficulties, including anxiety based problems (Obsessive Compulsive Disorder, Phobias, Health Anxiety, Panic Attacks, Separation Anxiety), and depression following adverse life events, such as bereavement and loss.

Adele's specialist area is within the field of trauma, which she has over 16 years experience. She works with both children and adults who have experienced a range of different traumatic life events, including road traffic accidents, terrorism, natural disasters and child abuse. She has extensive experience working with children and young people who are looked after by the local authority. This also involves providing consultation to carers to help increase their awareness and understanding of the complex difficulties and long term effects associated with developmental trauma, including ways to provide therapeutic care.

She has extensive experience using attachment-based interventions, through direct clinical work, employing a dyadic approach with children suffering from the impact of past attachment trauma.

Since 2007 Adele has also carried out medico legal assessments and reports, by legal instruction, regarding the psychological effects of trauma, including PTSD. She has experience of a number of therapeutic orientations, with particular emphasis on attachment-based therapies, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) and Eye Movement Desensitisation Reprocessing (EMDR).

Adele is also the founder of Northern Clinical Psychology Services (NCPS), a private organisation that provides psychological assessment and therapies across Yorkshire (please click on the website link). As such, Adele spends a significant proportion of her time developing and shaping the service in order to ensure that individuals receive an excellent dedicated service in their assessment and treatment. She is dedicated to maintaining the highest quality, efficiency, flexibility and integrity within NCPS.
