About me
I am a Consultant in Nephrology and Acute General Medicine and perform my clinical duties at several locations within South-East Wales.
Following qualification in 2004, I received training in numerous medical specialties in South Wales and Cambridge before entering the All-Wales Nephrology Higher Training Scheme in 2008. I completed my specialist training in 2016 in both Nephrology and Acute General Medicine.
I am happy to consult in all areas of kidney disease including dialysis and transplantation. I also hold accreditation in general medicine and I am able to provide consultation in specialisms outside my own. I am also availble for medico-legal work.
I have a particular interest in kidney disorders related to exercise and exertional heat injury as this was the subject of my PhD research. My work is internationally recognised and I have published and presented my findings in the USA, Far East and Europe.
I continue to actively develop research interests and contribute regularly to undergraduate and postgraduate teaching programs at Cardiff University. In 2018, I was made examiner for the Royal College of Physicians and in 2019 I was elected as a Fellow.
My interest in sports medicine has filtered through to the Team Doctor reserve list for Kingstone Press Rugby League 1. I have attended games for the Gloucestershire All Golds and South Wales Scorpions.
