About me

Dr Sivanadian Mani-Babu is a Consultant in Sport and Exercise Medicine (SEM). He sees muscle and joint conditions/injuries in any individual who would like to be more physically active as well as elite athletes and has expertise in diagnostic musculoskeletal ultrasound scanning/ultrasound-guided injection therapy. He has a variety of clinical and leadership experience within the NHS, Private Sector, Ministry of Defence and Elite Sport. He is a Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians (UK).

Siva graduated in Medicine from University College London Medical School in 2005, along with a First Class Honours Degree in Physiology. He won a Wolfson Foundation Award for his Physiology Degree and received other undergraduate prizes including for Anatomy, Best Aggregate Examination Performance and an Award of Merit for Clinical Finals.

During junior doctor and registrar training, he has worked at a variety of establishments including the Royal Free Hospital, Guys and St Thomas Hospitals and Imperial College Health Care. After completing the London registrar training programme he became a Consultant in Sport and Exercise Medicine in 2013.

As an SEM consultant, he worked for many years at the Defence Medical Rehabilitation Centre Headley Court, the national rehabilitation centre for the UK military. He was lead consultant in the Centre for Spinal and Upper Quadrant Rehabilitation, Lead for Trainee Education, Consultant in the Centre for Lower Limbs Rehabilitation and led on best practice national military guidelines for injury management.

Siva currently works as a consultant at Barts Health NHS Trust, one of the largest NHS Trusts in the UK. He supervises training SEM doctors and leads the SEM clinic which is also a national centre for dance injury management.

With respect to team and elite sport, his roles have included medical team leader at Olympic and Paralympic Games (2012 London), Lead UK team doctor at The Invictus Games (2017 Toronto), Team Physician for British Athletics at the Paralympic Games (2020 Tokyo) and National Classifier for the British Athletics Parallel Success Programme. Siva has extensive experience working in professional football. He has been a club doctor at Fulham FC from 2020 and previously club doctor at Brentford FC for 6 seasons. He has also worked in a variety of other sports. He is an ATP tennis tournament physician and has also worked in boxing, judo, basketball, marathon/athletics events and rugby.

Siva is dedicated to development of the specialty and has completed a 3 year term as Honorary Secretary of the Faculty of Sport and Exercise Medicine UK. He continues working with the Faculty as a membership examiner and exam question writer.

Siva has completed a Postgraduate Diploma in Ultrasound and has expertise in scanning hand, wrist, elbow, shoulder, hip, groin, knee, foot and ankle injuries as well as ultrasound guided injection therapy.
