About me

Psychological Therapy

My approach is warm, empathic, and non-judgemental. I work collaboratively with individuals to develop a shared understanding of how difficulties may have developed and maintain over time. This is through developing a ‘psychological formulation’, where the influence of past experiences, triggers, and current patterns that may be keeping the problem going are explored. This process enables deeper understanding of the difficulties, as well as of individual strengths. This knowledge can then be used with the client to help explore therapeutic strategies to act as resources in overcoming the problem.

I offer therapy to people of 18 years and over encountering the following difficulties (although this list is not exhaustive): anxiety, phobias, panic, social anxiety, stress, depression, low mood, anger, feelings of shame, low self esteem, identity issues, bereavement, ‘feeling stuck’, feeling unfulfilled and dissatisfied with life, repeating unwanted patterns, relationship difficulties, and difficulties at work.

Background and Experience

I am a chartered clinical psychologist and accredited cognitive analytic therapist. I have over 10 years of experience working with people experiencing emotional, mental health, and relational difficulties.

I am registered with the Health and Care Professions Council and am an Associate Fellow and Chartered Member of the British Psychological Society. I am also an accredited member of the Association for Cognitive Analytic Therapy.

As a clinical psychologist I am trained to doctoral level in a range of psychological therapies. Since qualifying, I have undertaken continued professional development in number of therapies including cognitive analytic therapy, cognitive behaviour therapy, compassion focussed therapy, eye movement desensitisation and reprocessing (EMDR), narrative therapy, and acceptance and commitment therapy. I maintain current knowledge of psychological research, and national and professional guidelines. I use this knowledge to offer an evidence-informed approach, while ensuring therapy is tailored to meet the individual needs and preferences of the person that I am working with.
