About me

Julian Leong is a Consultant Spinal Surgeon and Honorary Associate Professor at the Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital in Stanmore and UCL.

His practice involves all aspects of spinal problems with children and adults.His research interests are in Surgical Technology, Medical Robotics and Surgical Skills Training and Assessment.

He completed his PhD thesis, “Hand-eye coordination in Surgery” at Imperial College London. His supervisors were Professor Ara Darzi, Professor Guang-Zhong Yang, and Professor Roger Emery.

His specialist orthopaedic training was based at the University College London Hospital/Middlesex rotation, which included spinal surgery training at Great Ormond Street Hospital, Whipps Cross University Hospital, and the Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital at Stanmore. He has completed fellowships at Great Ormond Street Hospital, Royal Devon and Exeter Hospital (Norman Capener Fellowship), and Hokkaido University (Sapporo, Japan).
