About me

James qualified from The Royal Free School of Medicine in 2000 and completed Surgical Training at The Royal Free Hospital in London and The Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital in Stanmore. He undertook Orthopaedic Specialty training on the Southwest Thames rotation based at St Georges Hospital in London and was awarded his CCT in 2014.

Having gained invaluable experience from International centres of excellence at The Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital, Guys & St Thomas's Hospitals, Barts & The Royal London and St. Georges Hospital, London, he was then awarded two world-renowned fellowships in Australia to further advance his Orthopaedic Specialty Training in Knee Surgery. The first year, with Dr Bill Donnelly, was dedicated to partial and full knee joint replacement (arthroplasty) including cutting edge techniques that utilise both computer-assisted and robotic surgery. This was followed in 2015 by a year with Dr Peter Myers, one of the world's pre-eminent knee and sports injury surgeons, refining his techniques in ligament reconstruction, cartilage & meniscus repair techniques, knee re-alignment osteotomies for patella (kneecap) problems, meniscal transplantation, ACL injuries and multiple ligament knee injuries in professional athletes.

James was appointed as a consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon to Maidstone & Tunbridge Wells NHS trust in 2016, where he specialises in knee injuries, knee ligament reconstruction including ACL and multi-ligament injury, knee arthritis and knee replacement surgery. He has a special interest in knee preservation with cartilage and meniscus repair and regrowth.
