About me

Mr Tayton qualified (with honours) from UCL Medical School in London in 2002.
He undertook his Basic Surgical Training in Bristol, prior to undertaking his Higher Surgical Training in the Wessex Region. During his training he gained a Masters degree from the University of Cardiff in Orthopaedic Engineering, where his thesis investigated the beneficial effects of flexible hip replacements on long term bone preservation after hip replacement. During the later stages of his training he took an additional 2 years out of programme at the University of Southampton in order to complete a PhD in tissue engineering strategies and stem cell therapies for the treatment of Orthopaedic conditions.
After his formal UK training he undertook two fellowships. The first was in joint replacement surgery in Auckland, New Zealand, where he learnt specialist techniques in complex limb reconstruction and computer navigated joint replacements. Upon return to the UK, he undertook a second fellowship further specialising in complex hip surgery. He has recently developed an interest in robotic surgery, and now offers robotically assisted knee replacement surgery.
