About me
Mr Day is a consultant General and Colorectal Surgeon at Surrey and Sussex Healthcare NHS Trust. During his training he did a two year fellowship at the Minimal Access Therapy Training Unit in Guildford where he completed an MD research project which focused on the optimisation of patient care before and after bowel surgery. He also received a nationally-awarded Ethicon laparoscopic colorectal fellowship, during which he received further specialised training in advanced laparoscopic (keyhole) bowel cancer surgery.
Mr. Day specialises in general and colorectal surgery with a specific interest in laparoscopic bowel surgery, hernia surgery, colonoscopy and the treatment of anal fissures, fistulae and haemorrhoids. He is a JAG accredited colonoscopist. He has a particular interest in 'Enhanced Recovery', which aims to optimise patients’ pre- and post-operative care, in order to improve their recovery following bowel surgery.
Mr Day has over forty publications in peer-reviewed journals, many on the subject of Enhanced Recovery and outcomes following bowel cancer surgery. Mr. Day sits as the regional representative on the council of the Association of Laparoscopic Surgeons of Great Britain and Ireland.
