Dr Deb Majumdar is a Consultant Gastroenterologist and Hepatobiliary physician at Ashford & St Peters Hospital and Royal Surrey County Hospital. He is head of Endoscopy and Hepato-biliary services at St Peter's hospital. He provides advanced endoscopy service at regional Hepatobiliary centre (Royal Surrey County hospital).

He has a particular interest in diagnostic and therapeutic endoscopy (gastroscopy and colonoscopy), ERCP and endoscopic ultrasound. He has led in introduction of trans nasal endoscopy, colon capsule endoscopy and artificial intelligence(AI) in his hospital.

His clinical areas of interest include managing gastric and duodenal ulcers (and Helicobacter pylori infection), gastro-oesophageal reflux and Barrett's oesophagus, inflammatory bowel disease (Ulcerative colitis and Crohn's disease) and liver and pancreatic diseases.

He is a JAG (UK Joint Advisory Group on GI Endoscopy; www.thejag.org.uk) accredited Endoscopist and endoscopy trainer. He participates in regular audits of his endoscopy practice, aiming to provide high quality and safe endoscopy to his patients. His colonoscopy quality data (Key performance Indicators, KPI's) indicate results above that required as per current UK guidelines.

He excelled in his medical training, obtaining several awards, including Honours in Physiology, Senior Prosectorship in Anatomy and Gold Medal for proficiency in MD (General Medicine).

His higher medical training was at Nottingham and Sheffield. During his training, at two of the foremost Gastroenterology and Hepatology centres in UK (including Queen's Medical Centre, Nottingham and Sheffield Teaching Hospitals), he was able to gain valuable and extensive knowledge in a wide range of Gastroenterology and Hepatology fields. Whilst training in Sheffield, he undertook research into the development of colon cancer in inflammatory bowel disease in association with the University of Sheffield (Molecular Gastroenterology Research Group https://www.sheffield.ac.uk/oncology-metabolism/research/surgicaloncology/research/gastro_group and Chemical Engineering department. http://www.sheffield.ac.uk/chelsi). This research led to award of MD from the University of Sheffield. He has published in several national and international peer reviewed journals. He has also presented papers (oral and poster presentations) at national and international Gastroenterology meetings (American Gastroenterology Association, United European Gastroenterology Week, British Society of Gastroenterology).

He takes an active interest in training medical doctors, both at the undergraduate and post-graduate level. He is a MRCP(UK) PACES examiner.
