About me

Dr Stuart Russell is a Consultant Cardiologist with a specialist interest in Heart Failure and Device therapy.

He has lead the Heart Failure and Device Service at Macclesfield Hospital in East Cheshire for over 10 years. Dr Russell implants pacemakers and complex devices (defibrillators and biventricular devices/CRT) at Wythenshawe Hospital and is an established high volume operator.

Dr Russell's specialist interests include pacing the heart (biventricular pacing/cardiac resynchronisation therapy) as a method of treating heart failure. He has published research trials in international journals on resynchronisation therapy after cardiac surgery.

Other areas of specialist interest include the prevention and management of coronary artery disease and abnormal heart rhythms, cardiac complications from T1 and T2 diabetes, pre operative assessments and blackouts.
