About me

You may be looking for therapy because of the impact of symptoms such as:
- depression and low mood,
- apathy,
- anxiety
- and anger.

Perhaps you are affected by issues such as
- shame,
- loss,
- work,
- relationship issues
- life stress,
- and trauma.

You may be looking to make sense of some of your life experiences, in order to understand how they are impacting you now, and to enhance the quality of your life and relationships.

As a Clinical Psychologist I am experienced in working compassionately with a variety of emotional issues.

I am particularly informed by attachment theory and I use a trauma informed approach. This means that I think that our experiences and relationships fundamentally affect how we relate to our feelings, life events and others. I’ve learned that difficulties aren’t created within individuals but develop in the relationship between people and their contexts.

Many of my clients come to see me regarding relationship issues. This can include, but is not limited to:
- the impact of mental health issues and neurodiversity (including ADHD, autism and learning disabilities),
- difficulties adjusting to parenthood,
- attachment issues,
- the impact of work and life stress
- feeling stuck in patterns of relating,
- loss,
- abuse,
- separation and divorce,
- communication difficulties,
- vulnerability,
- sex and intimacy,
- sexuality,
- the aftermath of an affair,
- betrayal,
- fertility,
- trauma
- birth trauma
- and family issues.

I’ve found that one therapeutic approach doesn’t work for all and so I tailor my approach to meet your unique needs. I draw upon CBT, acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT), psychodynamic psychotherapy, systemic therapy, and emotionally focussed therapy (EFT).

The relationship we build together is very important. I will seek to help you feel safe enough within therapy to develop a non-judgemental awareness of your thoughts, feelings, relationships and behaviours.

Our work together may include increasing your self-compassion and enhancing your self-care skills. This may include how you treat and talk to yourself, and how you interact with the significant people in your life.

I have worked with people affected by emotional and relational issues since 2002 and qualified as a Clinical Psychologist in 2008 from the University of Surrey.

I am experienced in working in the NHS, private practice and within the third sector. I am chartered with the British Psychological Society and Registered with the Health and Care Professions Council.

I completed further postgraduate training at the Institute of Family Therapy in working systemically with individuals, couples and families. In addition, I completed a postgraduate diploma in individual and couple psychodynamic psychotherapy at Tavistock Relationships where I worked with individuals and couples regarding relationship issues.

I have undertaken further training in working with and assessing autism (at the Lorna Wing Centre) and ADHD (at the Institute of Psychiatry).

I completed my online therapy training with the Online Therapy Institute in September, 2017.
