About me

Dr James Ahlquist has been in practice as a specialist in endocrinology and diabetes in South Essex since 1995.

He trained in Bristol, Birmingham and Oxford. His research in endocrinology led to the award of a PhD and was followed by a post-doctoral research fellowship at Massachusetts General Hospital, Boston.

His practice is based in Southend-on-Sea. He also works at Queen's Hospital, Romford, as a specialist in pituitary disease. He is a licensed prescriber of radio-iodine therapy for benign thyroid disease.

He was formerly a Fellow of the Royal Society of Medicine, where he has served as President of the Section for Endocrinology and Diabetes.
