About me

I am a specialist consultant knee surgeon whose aim is to diagnose and treat your knee problem. I treat all knee conditions in people of all ages. Whether you have longstanding pain from wear and tear arthritis or have injured your knee I will carefully assess your case, organise any necessary scans and X-rays, and go through a variety of treatment options carefully considered to suit your individual needs.

Most of the patients I see don’t need surgery, but most are very keen to know exactly what the problem is and what can be done to help. I work closely with a team of expert physiotherapists to ensure you receive the very best available treatment.

If surgery is required I use proven and safe techniques to help treat your knee problem. I also keep at the forefront of new technology and was the first knee surgeon on the south coast to offer Robotic Assisted Partial and Total Knee Replacements. I specialize in partial knee replacements, sometimes referred to as sports knee replacement or knee resurfacing.

I am passionate about sport and treat sportsmen and women of all ages and abilities and take great pride in returning people who have injured their knees to doing the hobbies they love.

As one of a handful of surgeons internationally who has been awarded 2 Knee Society Awards by the Knee Society of America, I have presented my research both nationally and internationally. I have published numerous articles in scientific journals and have authored chapters in textbooks of orthopaedic surgery. I train surgeons from both the UK and abroad in advanced techniques in knee surgery. My NHS base is at University Hospitals Dorset (poole and Bournemouth) where I specialise in complex knee surgery. I am also the Clinical Director for Trauma and Orthopaedics

I am married to Emma, a local GP, and have two young sons. I am a classically trained guitarist and enjoy photography. I enjoy windsurfing, kite-surfing, stand-up paddle boarding, open water swimming and cycling. I have had my fair share of orthopaedic injuries so know first hand what it takes to get back on track after surgery!

“Dear Mr Pavlou, Words can not express my gratitude for the difference you have made to my life. Thanks you, thank you, thank you!” Mrs A.P
