About me

I am currently the Clincial Lead for the Department of Diabetes and Endocrinologyat West Herts Hospitals NHS Trust (Watford General Hospital, Hemel Hempstead General Hospital and St. Albans' City Hospital). I work as part a Consultant Physician and Endocrinologist as part of a department committed to providing excellent services to patients with diabetes and endocrine conditions. In addition to my General Medical commitments and routine diabetes and endocrine work, I am currently the Lead for diabetes and endocrine disorders in pregnancy and the Lead for the young adult diabetes service at Hemel Hempstead. I have a strong interest in medical education and teaching having previously been the undergraduate tutor at Watford and program director for medicine for medical students from St. George’s Hospital, Grenada.

My undergraduate training was at St. Mary’s Hospital Medical School/Imperial College from where I graduated in 1998 having also completed an intercalated BSc(Hons). I undertook my post-graduate training primarily in London which included a period of research in thyroid disease and metabolic bone disease at the Hammersmith Hospital.

At Spire Bushey Hospital I see patients with endocrine disorders and diabetes. The facilities at Spire Bushey allow full appropriate investigation of these conditions. Furthermore, my close links here with colleagues from Watford allows multi-disciplinary team working to help direct further management as needed.

I believe that treatment should be patient centred and individualised with good communication key to this. It is essential to discuss management plans and potential treatment options clearly. Such decisions should ultimately depend upon evidence based guidance but also importantly upon patient choice.
