About me

Consultant Transplant and Vascular Surgeon

Mr Crane qualified from the University of Liverpool in 2007. After house jobs at the Royal Liverpool University Hospital, he moved to London and completed his senior house officer training at St Georges, Chelsea and Westminster, St Mary’s and Great Ormond Street Hospital. Following this, he undertook specialist registrar training on the North West Thames Higher Surgical Training rotation. His specialist vascular surgery training took at place at St Marys’ Hospital and specialist training in transplantation surgery at Hammersmith, St Georges and Guy’s Hospital.

In the hiatus between basic and higher surgical training, Mr Crane undertook a postgraduate research degree at Imperial College and St Mary’s Hospital and was awarded a Doctorate of Medicine from the University of London for his MD Thesis in the subject of haemodynamics and blood flow patterns in vascular surgery.

Specialist Interests. Mr Crane’s main interests include pancreatic transplantation, kidney transplantation surgery (both deceased donor and live related), vascular access surgery and mainstream vascular surgery. In addition he has wide experience in other general surgical conditions.

NHS Service. Mr Crane was appointed consultant vascular and transplant surgeon in October 2011 at Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust. He is based primarily at the Hammersmith Hospital. He provides a kidney and pancreas transplantation service and has set up a program of vascular access surgery for haemodialysis patients, the first of its kind in North West London.
