About me
Dr Hoole qualified in medicine with distinction from University of Oxford, and subsequently trained in cardiology in London and Cambridge. He was appointed as a consultant interventional cardiologist in September 2011 and leads interventional research in Cambridge. He is also the clinical lead for valve intervention.
His research interests include invasive ventricular and microcirculatory assessment and treatment to improve PCI outcomes. He was shortlisted for the Thomas J. Linnemeier Spirit of Interventional Cardiology International Young Investigator Award for this work. He has published over 80 peer reviewed manuscripts and is regularly invited as faculty to speak at scientific congresses.
Since his appointment he has been accepted into the SCAI Emerging Leader Mentorship (SCAI-ELM) program as one of 12 national and international SCAI-ELM fellows (2013-2015) and is an Elected Member of Early Career Section Leadership Council of the ACC (2018-2021). He is a specialist adviser to MHRA interventional device program, NICE interventional procedures program and the NIHR HTA program. He is an Expert Adviser for the NICE Centre for Guidelines. He has participated in guideline and position paper publications for the ESC, ACC, AHA and NICE and has recently been appointed as a NICE clinical guideline chair.
