About me

My particular interests include the treatment of acute leukaemias, myelodysplasia and chronic myeloid leukaemia.
I am the Acute Leukaemia Lead Clinician for the Lancashire and South Cumbria Cancer Network, covering a population of 1.6 million people. I am based at Blackpool Victoria Hospital, which is the regional centre for the treatment of this disorder, as well as the treatment of other serious blood diseases requiring complex therapy.
I have been heavily involved in the recruitment of patients to national clinical trials for over 10 years. I am a member of the National AML Working Party, a national committee that run clinical trials in the treatment of acute leukaemia throughout the UK.
I graduated from Downing College Cambridge in 1993, before completing my clinical training at Guy’s and St Thomas’ Hospitals in London in 1996. I undertook my specialist haematology training in Manchester, including at the Manchester Royal Infirmary and the Christie Hospital.
Dr Cahalin is originally from London but has lived in the North West for over 10 years now. Most of his spare time is spent with his wife and two children.
His main interests include cycling, open water swimming and learning Spanish.
