About me

Professor Colin Berry holds a Chair in Cardiology and Imaging in the University of Glasgow. He is a Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Glasgow, the Royal College of Physicians of Edinburgh, the American College of Cardiology and the European Society of Cardiology. He is a Consultant Cardiologist and Director of Research in the Golden Jubilee National Hospital. He is also a Consultant Cardiologist in the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital in Glasgow.
Professor Berry's cardiology specialty interests include chest pain, angina (including microvascular angina), high blood pressure, palpitations, heart attack, heart valve problems and heart failure. He has specialist accreditation in Interventional Cardiology (angiography, angioplasty, stents) and heart imaging.

Research interests

Professor Berry's Cardiology Research Group is focused on the causes, consequences and treatment of coronary heart disease. The range of research interests extend from high blood pressure, angina, heart attack and heart failure. The research is patient orientated and intended to improve the health and wellbeing of patients with heart disease. The groups is internationally leading in the field. His group is supported by research grants from the Government and medical charities, notably the British Heart Foundation.
Professor Berry's group has published more than 300 research articles in leading medical journals.
