About me

I have always found Orthopaedics a fascinating subject in which Medicine and Engineering come together. I consider it a privilege to work in such a rewarding field but also feel strongly that progress in such an area must be careful and in accordance with strict scientific principles. The interests of patients must remain firmly at the core of any new techniques or implants which are introduced and patients need to be fully involved in the decision making process regarding their treatment. I follow strict clinical governance processes in this field and also carefully monitor and follow up my patients. New devices for treating hand and wrist arthritis are a very promising area where real progress has been made in the last 15 years, but not all of these are good in the long term. I make sure that my patients are fully aware of the scientific and clinical evidence behind every procedure they undergo and review the latest evidence regularly as well as publishing my own results in this area.
