About me
I am a Consultant Interventional Cardiologist. I work for Kardiostar Ltd, cardiology consultancy, based in Norwich, Norfolk.
I was appointed by the Norfolk and Norwich University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust in 2010, where I am the Cardiology Service Director since June 2017. I also work as an Honorary Consultant Cardiologist at James Paget University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust.
I graduated from Tartu University with a Doctor of Medicine (M.D.) degree in 1988. I became a Specialist in Internal Medicine in 1996 and Specialist in Cardiology in 2002. I am a Fellow of the European Society of Cardiology (FESC) since 2007 and a Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians in London (FRCP) since 2015.
I have specialist skills in General and Interventional Cardiology, especially in complex coronary interventions. My experience includes pre- and postoperative cardiac intensive care. My clinical work is focused on using advanced methods in the interventional management of patients with acute heart attacks, acute coronary syndrome and stable angina. I am an honorary lecturer at the University of East Anglia.
I cover all aspects of diagnosing and management of heart-related problems in adults. My passion is in Interventional Cardiology. I also work for East Point Consulting Rooms and helping them with private cardiological referrals.
I am a Black Belt in Traditional Korean Martial Arts. I am a Harley-Davidson Motorbike and Dog Enthusiast, an Apple Computers & gadgets lover. I like Blues and Jazz. I am married with five children.
I speak English, Estonian, Swedish, Finnish, Russian.
Areas of interest
I am interested in General and Interventional Cardiology. My focus is on Chest pains, palpitations and rhythm problems, shortness of breath, heart failure, high blood pressure. I like valvular heart problems. I perform ECG, treadmill stress tests, ambulatory ECG and blood pressure recordings, echocardiograms. Coronary angiogram, angioplasty (PCI) using balloons, stents and rotablation will be arranged at NNUH. Cardiac CT and MRI are available.
