About me

Dr McCarey graduated in Medicine from the University of Glasgow in 1997. He subsequently trained in General Internal Medicine and Rheumatology in the West of Scotland. His main clinical interests are in inflammatory arthritis and its various comorbidities.

His main research interests are in the field of cardiovascular risk modification in inflammatory arthritis and he has published widely in this area and co-authored European guidelines on the subject. He received his MD from the University of Glasgow in 2005. A full time Consultant Rheumatologist and Physician at Glasgow Royal Infirmary since 2008, he is also Honorary Clinical Senior Lecturer at the University of Glasgow. He is currently Lead Clinician for Medical Specialties in the North Sector of NHS Greater Glasgow & Clyde.
