About me

I am a consultant General Adult Psychiatrist and an Addiction Psychiatrist who has worked in Community/Crisis psychiatric services and Substance Misuse Services for a number of years. I have a lot of experience and expertise in treatment of various mental disorders including depression, bipolar disorder, anxiety disorders, obsessive compulsive disorders, ADHD and others. I provide a Home detoxification service for patients with alcohol dependence in conjunction with an alcohol nurse. I have also provided inpatient treatment services such as detoxification and stabilisation for various drugs and alcohol and outpatient treatment services for alcohol and various drugs including heroin, cocaine, crack, cannabis, amphetamines and benzodiazepines.
I have a special interest in treating patients with dual problems of drugs and alcohol misuse and mental health problems such as insomnia, anxiety disorders, depression and other mental health problems.
After completing my medical and psychiatric training in India, I did my psychiatric training with Dorset Health Care Trust and became a member of the Royal College of Psychiatrists in 1997. I completed my higher psychiatric training in Leicester and admitted to specialist register (CCST) in 2000 in General Adult Psychiatry and Addiction Psychiatry. I was awarded MSc in Addictive Behaviour with distinction from St George’s Hospital Medical School, University of London in 2000.
