About me

Mr Sarfraz has been a consultant surgeon for 15 years at Warrington Hospital where he served full terms as Breast Cancer Lead, Lead Cancer Clinician, Postgraduate Clinical Tutor, Deputy Director / Acting Director of Medical Education till 2022. He completed a term as the Deputy Director of Surgical Education for the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Glasgow and was elected to the College Council.

He trained as a general surgeon with particular emphasis on breast, endocrine, open hernia and gallbladder surgery for over 13 years to achieve consultant status in his home country before relocating to the UK for further training in the year 2000. Seven years in training in the Mersey region led to proficiency in general surgery / breast/ endocrine surgery including laparoscopic cholecystectomies (elective conversion to open rate 1% vs. national average 5%) and the last three years of his training were at the Royal Liverpool University Hospital to develop sub-specialist skills in breast and endocrine surgery.

Despite extensive experience in general surgery, he provides a resectional oncoplastic breast surgery service. He performs image guided surgery (wire / radioactive localisation) and sentinel lymph node biopsies for staging breast cancer. He offers primary and secondary breast reconstruction / symmetrisation surgery. He also performs thyroid and parathyroid surgery.

He has a keen interest in surgical teaching and training, and is a member of faculty on all the major surgical courses for the Royal College of Surgeons of England and the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Glasgow.
