About me
Dr Robert Greenbaum qualified with a 1st Class Honours Degree in Physiology at University College London where he later graduated in medicine. He underwent postgraduate training in medicine at University College, The Royal Brompton Hospital and The Whittington Hospitals in London, before becoming a British Heart Foundation Junior Research Fellow at The Royal Brompton Hospital where his medical thesis (MD) was accepted in 1980. His specialist training in cardiology was at The London Chest Hospital as a registrar and at The Royal Free and Harefield Hospitals as a Senior Registrar.
Dr Greenbaum became a Member of the Royal College of Physicians in 1977 and a Fellow in 1994. He is also a Fellow of the European Society of Cardiology and The American College of Cardiology, and a senior consultant cardiologist working at Barnet and The Royal Free Hospitals. He has worked at The Wellington Hospital for many years and at private consulting rooms - The Wood Street Clinic in Barnet in North London. He is a Cardiology advisor to The London Ambulance Service NHS Trust, and was President of The Section of Cardiology of The Royal Society of Medicine responsible for a program of training for the next generation of Cardiologists. He is also a frequent speaker at GP meetings talking of a range of cardiology issues particularly as they affect those in Primary care, receiving very positive feedback from attendees.
Dr Greenbaum treats patients with a full range of adult cardiology problems and works as an interventional cardiologist carrying out cardiac catheterization and coronary angioplasty. He has particular skills in the assessment of patients suffering with angina and acute coronary syndromes. He also specialises in the care of heart failure and heart rhythm abnormalities.
Dr Greenbaum has undertaken around 10,000 cardiac procedures including cardiac catheterizations, and coronary angioplasties including complex emergency cases. He has implanted about 1500 permanent pacemakers both single and dual chamber systems.
